It also helped the men in having better sex life and was found effective in treating premature ejaculation in men. Yoga also helps in knowing several sex positions. Yoga is very beneficial in improving your sex life. Yoga offers physical and emotional benefits that add up to more fun and enables a meaningful sexual relationship with your partner. However one should keep in mind that Yoga itself is not a good sex, but good sex is the positive side effect of yoga.
Here are few reasons why yoga is helpful in sex life.
- Yoga helps in achieving better orgasm by strengthening sex organs and muscles of the pelvic floor (called mula bandha in Sanskrit). It also enables to liberate muscle strain, which in turn helps in gaining flexibility.
- Regular yoga increases body sensitivity to touch due to relaxed body and mind
- Yoga helps in better co-ordination of positions during intercourse by increasing endurance and vigor
- It rejuvenates the sex life by improving your creativity to experiment with more positions than one
- Yoga helps in improving one’s sensitivity. Other than this yoga helps in improving better understanding of self and surrounding leaving a person more understanding and emphatic about other’s need.
- Yoga is very helpful in accumulating energy. Thus yoga provides one with more energy to deal with sexual activities.
- Yoga makes one feel more active and fit. So it helps in balancing the postures and the muscles are also greatly toned during yoga and respond more positively during intercourse leaving a better experience with sex.
- Yoga also helps to prevent heavy weight gain and also encourages developing a reverence for your body.
- Yoga makes the body flexible. So one can be more comfortable in vulnerable positions, whether it’s a full backbend during class or a heart-to-heart conversation in bed at night.
How Yoga is helpful in improving sex life:
There are different yoga poses which are not only beneficial for sex life but for whole body. However, there is a special branch of yoga called Kundalini which specially concentrates about sex and asana for harnessing the sexual power.
The connection between Kundalini Yoga and sexuality is one of the main points of interest for many beginners to the practice. Many people misunderstand the term kundalini, but it is that technique in yoga that are designed to channel sexual energy up the spine, through pranayama, asana and meditation, to where it can be used for spiritual development. The fact is Kundalini yoga is best in transferring all the energies to the body.
Doing yoga together among couple is one of the best ways to enhance the relationship. So Venus kriyas are completed actions done by couples to unify the energy polarities between men and women. The energies between the partners are exchanged. The souls between the partners are likely to merge and finally can exchange the love during the sex.
Here are the five Venus kriyas described below:
- Sending Prana – Sit in Rock Pose on the heels close enough so that you can touch palms with your partner while maintaining a straight arm. Touch both palms flat together. Look into each other’s eyes. Try not to blink. Send prana (life force) through your hands and eyes. Continue for 2 minutes. Then close your eyes and visualize your partner for 1 minute.
- Shiva-Shakti Pose– Stand and face your partner. Clasp the left hands and raise the right hands. Both arms are parallel to the ground. Lift up the left leg and balance. Look into each other’s eyes. Become Shiva and Shakti (the God and the Goddess). Imagine yourself dancing together in the heavens.
- Venus Back Rolls – Sit with your back to your partner. Inhale, exhale and bow down as your partner rolls and relaxes on your back. Inhale and as you exhale reverse positions, with the partner who had first rolled back now bowing down to the ground. This helps establish psychic connection at the same time as loosening up the back and hips.
- Touching Fingertips – Sit in Rock Pose on heels, knees touching. Raise arms up 60 degrees and touch fingertips. Stare into your partner’s eyes and project love. Hold for 3 minutes. Then inhale and hold the breath for 10 seconds and then exhale, holding the breath out for 10 seconds.
- Venus Triangle – Get into triangle pose (downward facing dog) with the back of your heels touching the back of your partner’s. Keep your knees and elbows straight. Gaze through your legs and into your partner’s eyes. Hold the position.
Some other list of yoga poses are:
- Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle Pose, also known as Cobbler’s Pose) – Sit with your knees bent and soles of the feet touching. Lightly hold your big toes and lean your torso forward over your legs (back is gently rounded). Hold for 5 to 10 deep breaths. This pose Alleviates urinary and uterine disorders, Strengthens the uterus and also help in Eases irritability, anxiety and fatigue, three reasons we might choose not to have sex.
- Upavista Konasana (Wide Straddle Forward Bend) – Sit on the floor with your legs wide. Leg muscles are activated and toes and kneecaps point straight up. Lean your torso forward as far as it goes comfortably. Hold for 5 to 10 deep breaths. It helps to increase blood flow (and thus sensation) in the pelvis.
- Lotus Position – In this posture, the person sits cross-legged and feet are placed on opposite thighs. The appearance of the position resembles the lotus flower and hence the name.
- Hal asana – The practitioner lies straight on the floor. Keeping legs together and straight, he raises the legs and takes them behind the head. Hands are kept firmly to the floor and parallel to the upper body. The name is derived from the word ` hala`, which means plow.
- Uddiyana Bandhas – It is done by pulling the abdomen inwards after exhaling all the air. While doing so, take a false inhale, hold your breath, pause and release the abdomen. This cycle of doing false inhale and complete exhale is repeated several times. Bandhas means internal lock. While doing this asana, the air is blocked to enter the lungs. Once the cycles are over, the lung receives fresh air.
- Sirhasana – It is one of the very famous asana in which the practitioner stands on the head, supported just by forearms. This asana is also known as the king of all yoga asanas.
- Viprita Karani – To perform this asana, lie straight on the floor and raise legs perpendicular to the body.
- Sarvangasana – This is an interesting asana in which the entire weight of the body is put on the neck, the head, and upper back and upper arms. The hands are held behind the back and slowly, the legs and the lower body is raised upward.
