Triphala Ghrita

It is Ayurveda medicine as described in Bhaisajya Ratnavali:netrarogadhikara. It is the ghee preparation of 3 fruits.

Classical Text:

B.R. Netrarogadhikara; 181-182.

Ingredients:

  • Haritaki (Terminalia chebula)
  • Bibhitaka (Terminalia belerica)
  • Amalaki (Emblica officinalis)
  • Sunthi (Zingiber officinale)
  • Marica (Piper nigrum)
  • Pippali (Piper longum)
  • Draksa (Vitis vinifera)
  • Madhuka (Honey)
  • Katurohini (Soymida febrifuga- katu quality)
  • Prapaundarika
  • Suksmaila
  • Vidariga (Pueraria tuberosa)
  • Nagakesara (Mesua ferrea)
  • Nilotpala (Nelumbo nucifera)
  • Sveta sariva (Hemidesmus indicus (Anantmool – white quality)
  • Krsna sariva (Anantmool – Black quality)
  • Candana (Santalum album)
  • Haridra (Curcuma longa)
  • Daru (Berberis aristata)
  • Ghrta (Clarified butter from cow’s milk)
  • Payas (Milk)
  • Triphala rasa.

 Uses:

a.    Triphala Ghrit is indicated in diseases of eyes. Useful in conjunctivitis and other eye troubles. Triphala ghrita is an ancient ayurvedic formula which contains triphala as its main ingrediant for the nourishment of eyes. It is an all in one formula for retinal disorders.

b.     Use in ophthalmic diseases, blurred vision, keratitis, itching, strained eyes, conjunctivitis, night blindness. It reduce all the three doshas, especially Kapha aggravations where there are sluggish bowels, low digestive fire, diabetes and obesity.

Dosage:

  • 10-20gm per day with warm milk

Anupana:

  • With warm milk or warm water.
