Cold is the most common illness that affects infants and elderly alike. It may occur during any seasons. Unlike the contrary belief cold weather is not the cause of colds. There are 200 types of viruses, which cause common cold. The major symptoms of common cold is usually mild with running nose, sneezing, headache and throat sore. These symptoms may last for one or two weeks. Cold is common among the children and decline with age. On an average people may get 2 to 4 colds per year depending on their body immunity.

Here are the top 7 home remedy tips for common cold

Cold Remedy #1: You should drink plenty of water to help you break up your congestion. Drinking plenty of water or juices will help you preventing dehydration. You should drink 8-10 glasses of water. But you had to avoid use of coca cola, coffee, alcohol and cafeeine because it called dehydration.

Cold Remedy #2: Steam inhalation is the best home remedy for common cold. This steam will help you to ease congestion of nose. Take the hot water in the pot and breath your nose above it. Conver the blanket over you but be careful it may burns your nose. You should breath slow.Steam with vicks and karvol is also useful.

Cold Remedy #3: If you had nasal congestion you can spray saline in your nose or salt water to irrigate your nose. It will help breaking down congestion and removing bacteria and virus from nose.

Cold Remedy #4: You should avoid cold. It is not actually due to cold mostly but you should avoid it keeping warm and rested. This will help you keep immune since cold may be allergic.

Cold Remedy #5 Your food is very imp for cold. You should take diet consisting such as grains, vegetables, meat and fruits. Avoid foods with artificial ingredients. The food containing high source of Vitamin C is very helpful for building immunity in your body.Milk, cheese and other dairy products are mucous enhancing and stuff you up even more.

You can mix pepper with curd and make jaggery is  very helpful in case of cold.

Cold Remedy #6 Practicing yoga is very beneficial for your nasal blockage and congestion. Bhastrika and anulom bilom pranayam regular practice help to get well soon.

Bhujangasana, shalabhasana, dhanurasana is very helpful in case of cold.

Cold Remedy #7 Garlic, turmeric had antiviral and antiseptic property so you can take with soup or with hot water.

  • Sorry , I disagree with the remedy no1 . Drinking of plenty water will increases the common cold. . Steam inhalation is ok. Saline nasal sprey is ok. Avoid of cold things also helpful. Rt. diet is important but should take light diet. Garlic turmeric is also fine.
    I would like add Fresh ginger juice once in a day before meals. Powder of Dry ginger and powder of turmeric mixed with warm water also helpful. Constipation is to be removed for permanent relief.
