Phala ghrita (Uterine Tonic)

Ingredients: Manjishtha, triphala, daruharidra, kutki, yastimadhu with ashwagandha, shatavari, tagara and other herbs (Astangahrdaya Samhita)

  • Ghrta (Clarified butter from cow’s milk)
  • Triphala (Harad, Baheda and Amla)
  • Musta (Cyperus rotundus)
  • Haridra (Curcuma longa)
  • Jambira rasa (Citrus lemon juice)
  • Satavari (Asparagus racemosus)
  • Dugdha (Goat Milk)
  • Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia)
  • Madhuka (Honey)
  • Kustha (Saussurea lappa)
  • Sarkara (Sugar)
  • Bala (Sida cordifolia)
  • Meda (Polygonatum cirrhifolium)
  • Vidari (Pueraria tuberosa)
  • Asvagandha
  • Ajamoda (Trachyspermum roxburghianum)
  • Haridradvaya
  • Hingu (Asafoetida)
  • Katuki (Picrorhiza kurroa)
  • Kamala (Mallotus philippinensis
  • Draksa (Vitis vinifera)
  • Candanadvaya
  • Kakoli (Lilium polyphyllum)
  • Ksirakakoli (Lilium polyphyllum).

Indications:

Phala kalyanaka ghrita is useful when the following symptoms are displayed:

  • Pradara (Vaginal discharge)
  • Anartava (Amenorrhoea/oligomenorrhoea)
  • Kastartava (Dysmenorrhea).

Dosage:10–20g per day with warm water

Uses A famous uterine tonic that is taken during pregnancy to enhance the strength of the mother and the fetus. Also used in other  gynaecological problems when there are inflammations and excessive bleeding.

Classical Text:

B.R. (Bhaisajyaratnavali), Strirogadhikara.

Anupana:

With milk and sita (Sharkar (type of sugar).
