Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) are characterized by a strong and sudden urge to urinate, followed by a slow and painful release of very little urine. While both men and women are susceptible to UTI, women suffer from it more often, with half of all women experiencing it at least once in their life. Using a UTI home remedy has become popular as an alternative treatment nowadays.  UTI is a common infection of the kidneys, bladder and urethra that afflicts many people.   When treated early, therapy becomes successful and prognosis is good.  Here are some of the natural options:

Treating Urinary Tract Infection With Water

Simply drinking plenty of water is the best home remedy for UTI. Human body is composed of 60-70% water. Drinking around 7-8 glasses of water will cleanse Bacteria of urinary tract. Proper hydration will help removal of harmful foreign substance of urinary system.

Vitamin C

Intake of Vitmin C helps acidity of urine avoiding growth of bacteria. Taking 1000mg of vitamin C per day is effective for UTI recurring cases. It strengthens the immune system and helps in resisting bacteria growth.

Cranberry Juice as a Natural Remedy for Urinary Tract Infection

Cranberry juice contain high Vitamin C and Quinolic acid which help prevent bacteria growth. Drinking Cranberry juice daily is effective measure against UTI. You can also mix it with apple juice for adding some taste. Use the fresh cranberry juice in case of bladder infections in men and women.

Treating Urinary Tract Infection by Echinacea

Echinacea is the best herbal remedy that contains number of substance helps against UTI. Drinking Echinacea helps fighting UTi recurring cases. You can take 2 capsules of Echinacea three times a day.

Avoid Irritant Foods

You should avoid the food like cheese, chocolate, dairy products. Also spicy food, caffeine, alcohol, beer, soda other drink with fizz and cigarettes is harmful. You should restrict processed flour products and bakery products.

Treating Urinary Tract Function by use of Baking Soda

Baking soda increase the acid base balance of acidic urine. So taking ½ tsf of baking soda with water can helpful in signs of UTI.

Stay away from Artificial Sweetener

Artificial sweeteners may aggravate a bladder infection and so it would be better to avoid such sweeteners for a couple of weeks or at least until your symptoms have subsided.

Hot Compression

Hot compression with heating pad on lower abdominal area helps relief you pain. It decrease inflammation but extra heat helps prevent spread infection. Most bacteria cannot survive in hot temperatures.

  • There is another huge home remedy that you left out, D-mannose. D-mannose is the active ingredient in cranberry juice but cranberry juice doesn’t have enough to really help. A d-mannose supplement can stop 80-90% of all urinary tract infections, as long as it’s caused by e.coli (which is usually the cause of 80-90% of infections). I started taking it and I have never had a full blown infection since. As soon as I start feeling symptoms, I take it.
