Bael is the wonderful fruits in our garden very effective remedy for digestive system. It is believed to have excellent treatment for diarrhoea, colitis, cholera when dried and fresh fruits is best lexative also. Its name is sacred to lord Shiva, as it ends weakness of our intestine.

Common name Bael fruit (English), Bengal quince (English), wood apple tree (E), Bael (Hindi) Sanskrit Bilva, ´Siva-droma Latin Aegle marmelos–Fructus immaturus & maturus (Rutaceae family)

BIOMEDICAL ACTION

Astringent, carminative, anthelmintic, Micturitive, abdominal disorders, Anti-pyretic, Heart ailments, Uterine disorders, Chronic cold, Cough

INDICATIONS

Digestion Bael is the special herb for digestive system. It is excellent remedy for chronic irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), diarrohoea, dysentery, malabsorption etc. It helps to dries up excessive mucus and ama . It is choice of drug for diarrohoea, cholera, colitis etc. The fresh fruit of bael is laxative as well but it is heavy in nature so taken in small quantity.

COMBINATIONS

* Bibhitaki, amalaki, haritaki to repair the large intestine and encourage regular peristalsis.

* Manjishtha, low dose of rhubarb root if there is bleeding from the GIT.

DOSAGE

Churna 3 – 6 gm, Swaras 10 – 20 ml, Panak 20 – 40 ml
