Ayurveda, the holistic science and art of living follows the unique approach in treating the health conditions. There is a comprehensive integration of mind, body and spirit that regulates the health. The loss of balance in the integration leads to losing the body balance.

The body and mind achieves the wisdom, regains vitality and aids in living the life to the fullest. Imbalances in our body are caused by many factors, from diet, lifestyle, sleeping habits, climate, stress, grief and many elements. Ayurvedic treatments aids in treating the body not just the disease. Ayurvedic medicine is not a system of medicine where the illness is treated by eliminating the symptoms. According to this ancient medication, the disease or ill-health is an outcome of loss of balance in the body. The body is healed by restoration of the balance and harmonizing the stability.

Doshas Balance

Doshas and Prakriti

The exhilarating concept of Ayurvedic treatments on addressing the physical imbalances is inimitable.

The human body is composed five elements, earth, water, fire, air and space! The combination of two or three elements composes the biological object, the physical constitution called the human body! It is called Doshas and there are three types of doshas, Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The physical body of every human is composed of any of these doshas or a combination of doshas. The body type termed as Prakriti has varying degrees of these doshas. They aren’t equal and distributed unevenly, which is natural! When any of the elements aggravates or diminishes, it ends up causing a disease.

Prakriti, aggravation of doshas, health condition, psychological factors and environment are considered before designing treatment to restore the physical imbalance.

Ayurvedic treatment for physical imbalances is not about prescribing, ‘a Pill for all!’ Let us look at briefly about the different kinds of ayurvedic treatments for physical imbalances:

 Ayurvedic Diet

Food plays a vital role in balancing and restoring the body! Most of the diseases are triggered by the inappropriate diet, which aggravates a specific dosha. For instance, eating more spicy foods may cuse acidity or heartburns in a few people caused due to aggravated Pitta dosha. Eating the alkaline foods balances the pitta dosha and eliminates the imbalances.

Ayurvedic treatment has specific recommendations of diet for every individual based on prakriti. The simple rules of ayurvedic diet is avoids foods that aggravates the aggravated dosha, eat the foods that could get the balancing effect on the body and eat wholesome freshly cooked foods.

Ayurvedic Therapies

There are plenty of ayur therapies performed to induce the vitality and heal the body.

Ayurvedic Massage

The term massage refers to relaxing, rejuvenation and nourishing the body from internally. Medicated oils, infusions of aromatic flowers and herbs, authentic and rare ayurvedic herbs and plants, extracts of herbs, etc are used in different forms in massaging the body. Aromatic oil infused with healing herbs is absorbed by the body.

If you apply a gel for back pain, it gives instant pain relief which lasts just for some time. In case of authentic oil massage with herbal concoctions, the medicinal properties of herbs and oil are absorbed and it lubricates the muscles and tissues, reduces inflammation and address the condition from internally.

Panchakarma – The Whole Body Cleanse

The popular and most effective form of ayurvedic treatment for physical imbalances is Panchakarma, the whole body cleanse. Panchakarma is a combination of different ayurvedic therapies performed one by one to get rid of all toxins from the body and giving a new life to the whole body. Cleansing the internal organs, removal of toxins, stimulation of optimal functions of the body, mind-body rejuvenation, and regaining overall balance of the body, eliminating the causes of the disease is attained by panchakarma.

Kaya-Chikitsa
