Ayurveda Campus IOM TUAyurveda campus is the only centre for Bachelor level of Ayurveda education in Nepal. It is resulted from the merging of HMG’s Ayurveda Vidhyalaya and chikitsalaya with the institute of Medicine in 1972. History reveals that Rajakiya Ayurveda Vidhyalaya was the first to start technical education in the countries in 1928. Ayurveda campus is solely committed to produce qualified doctors to meet the national need. At present Ayurveda campus is conducting BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) program as a branch of Institute of Medicine (IOM) under Tribhuvan University.

Course offered

At present Ayurveda Campus is conducting only one Bachelor Level course i.e. Bachelor of Ayurvedic  Medicine and Surgery (BAMS).

Duration

The under graduate course, Ayurvedacharya (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) is 5 and half years duration ( 4 and half year of main course and 1 year internship). The main course is divided into 3 professional courses of 1 and half years duration each, basic science, pre clinical, and clinical subjects with laboratory and hospital practice respectively. Junior internship of one year in third phase takes place in Teaching hospital, Maharajgung, in Surgery, ENT, Orthopaedics,. Gynae & Obs, Radiology, Emergency etc. After completion of 5.5 year compulsory rotating intership in different department of Ayurvedic hospitals and Ayurveda teaching hospital.

Eligibility

The admission qualification prescribed by the Tribhuvan University is Senior Higher Secondary examination in Science ( Physics, chemistry, and Biology) ISC or 10+2 with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology (EPCB) examinations securing at least 50% marks are eligible to apply.

The annual admission capacity of BAMS is 25 including 10 seats reserved for payment quota. Admission notifications is made in Bhadra or Asoj. After conducting on Entrance test, candidates standing in the highest merits are admitted in the institute.

Candidates who have passed proficiency certificates in Traditional and General medicine or Intermediates in Science with Bilogy or 10+2 with EPCB examination securing 50% marks are eligible to apply.

Scholarship in the Campus

The campus provides scholarship to the students securing higher positions in the entrance exam and in the professional exams. The scholarship is provided on 2 headings.bonafied scholarship scheme provided to 25% students annually and free ship scheme provided to 20% students annually. Other various scholarships are available to Toppers.

Hospitals

The construction of Ayurveda teaching hospital is completed in Compound of Ayurveda campus, 50 beded indoor services is going to start shortly with super speciality services in Ayurveda.

The Ayurvedic hospital Nardevi, existing in central level, will be upgraded to 100 beds at present and operated as a hospital provided specific Ayurevda service by establishing different departments of Ayurveda. This hospital will be operated under a development board. Junior intern as well as senior intern take place in Nardevi.

During internship, one year posting is done in Teaching hospital, Mahargung in different faculties including other health facility including other health centres like family planning centre, Teku hospital etc.

  10. Deparment of Shareer Kriya (Physiology)
  11. Deparment of Maulik Shidanta (Basic Principles)
