Piles can be cured through various yoga asanas. Piles and yoga simply means that yoga helps a great deal to treat piles. Before we go onto exactly how piles and yoga works, it is important to know just what Piles are. Piles are enlarged blood vessels which are present near the anal region. This disease can affect people of all ages. The veins present in the rectal area get inflamed and this results in a great deal of pain. There are two types of Piles – external and internal. Internal piles are those which are found inside the body, close tot the anal canal. External piles can be seen outside. There are several reasons why piles occur. These include:-

• Obesity
• Stress
• Lack of exercise
• Intake of a low fiber diet
• Constipation
• Eating too much oily and spicy food
• Pregnant women suffer from piles as the fetus gets heavier and puts weight on the abdomen. Increased blood flow during pregnancy is also the reason for this.

Yoga for Piles treatment can be done in the convenience of one’s own home. Some of the yoga asanas for piles are:-

Sarvanga Asana( Candle Pose): Lie down on your back. Keep your feet together and let your hands be by your side. Put pressure on your hands and raise your legs slowly to an angle of 90°. Then raise your spine to the same angle. Keep this position for 10 seconds. Then slowly lower your body to the ground and rest. Repeat this four times.

Matsya Asana( Fish Pose): Lie on your back and keep your hands at your side. Bend your knees completely. With the help of your head, hands and legs, raise your chest. Keep this position in place for about 30 seconds and then release it. Practice this four times in a day. You can also practice this position without bending your knee.

Some other asanas are Shirsha Asana( Headstand), Chakrasana (Wheel Pose), Uttanasana (Standing Forward Bend pose), Sarvanga Asana(The Shoulder stand), Tada Asana (The Mountain Pose), Padahasta Asana(Hand to Foot Pose), Surya Namaskara (Sun Salutation), Pavanamukta Asana (The Wind Releasing Pose), and Pranayama (Breathing Control). As you can see, piles and yoga go hand in hand.Yoga can work wonders for the treatment of piles. Pile is a very common ailment these days. Hemorrhoids are balloon kind of swelling in the veins near the anus. It can be internal or external. External piles are not harmful but they cause pain at the time of excretion. Internal piles are a great cause of trouble as they cannot be dealt with immediately. Yoga helps greatly for the treatment of dry internal piles in the body.

Piles can be either caused due to heredity or at times due to sexual troubles or over indulgence. Lack of physical activity too can be a cause of piles. Constipation and mal functioning of liver can cause piles which may trouble the individual for a long period of time.

When piles are caused due to improper circulation of blood in the veins of the body then the distant veins have blockage of blood causing piles. The pouched blood causes the muscles to swell and causes inflammation in the nearby tissues. Various asanas can be used for the treatment of piles and a few which have guaranteed results like sarvangasana (shoulder stand), tadasana (mountain pose), surya namaskar (sun salutation) and a few quite challenging poses like shirshasana (head stand).

Constipation can lead to piles and it can cause indigestion which may lead to several ailments of the stomach and intestine. It is also a known cause for the piles. Yoga helps in the removal of the toxins in the body which can give a free and active feeling to the body and once the toxins are out from the body, it helps to restore the normal balance of the body and provide freedom from the pain caused due to piles. Piles may cause back pain in several individuals because of its critical position in the body.

Yoga exercises can help greatly in the treatment of piles and the back pain. The stretch and strain provided as a part of yoga helps to regulate the body and provide freedom from the acute pain caused in the body. A few recommended asanas of yoga like sarvangasana (posture involving all body parts) helps to activate the glands of the body which can also help to heal the piles.

Uttanasana (standing forward bend pose) and chakrasana (wheel pose) are highly recommended postures for the treatment of piles in the human body.
