Yoga is a great exercise regimen to begin with because the people who practice it are nonjudgmental, and the classes tend to be slow-paced with hands-on instruction and plenty of positive reinforcement. Much has been written about the many benefits of yoga, from increasing muscular strength and flexibility, to lowering blood pressure and stress levels and plenty in between. With a few yoga tips, it’s easier to avoid some of the frustrations that can occur by just starting yoga without any idea of the complexity or variance that is yoga. Here are a few tips if you are planning to attend a yoga class, but would like more information on the practice:

  • Best time for practicing yoga is morning before breakfast when your mind is calm and fresh.
  • Find the most quite place, well ventilated, free from dust, insects, unpleasant smell, moisture to be free from distraction whatsoever.
  • Before practicing you should better empty your bowel and bladders, cleans nostril and throat free from mucus, take lukewarm water before exercise.
  • First start with the easy posture and slowly proceed to difficult one.
  • Beginning movements should be light and later get cease if fatigue.
  • You should take rest for while if particular exercise make you tiring and  fatigue.
  • Sattvik ahar (balanced diet) is necessary in interval of 4 hours daily between meals.
  • The ratio for the composition of meals should be:
      • grains and cereals 30% of the calorific value
      • dairy products 20%
      • vegetables and roots 25%
      • fruits and honey 20%
      • nuts remaining 5%
  • The quantity of food should be moderate (mitahara) as per one’s appetite.
  • Over eating, fasting ,is not recommended you should had regular food habit.
  • Your clothe should be loose and scanty, maximum skin should be exposed to air.
  • The breathing technique is long and deep. Close mouth during inhale and exhale only from nose.
  • Form-fitting cotton/Lycra pants and shirts are the best.
  • Place a mat of Kusa or any grass for sitting postures exercise.
  • You can use woolen carpet for performing the lying postures.
